This monument is exceptionally simple to find, so simple in fact we can honestly say its quite difficult to miss, as it is situated just inside a field adjacent to the main road. The road in question is the A483, Llandovery to Builth Wells road, just outside of Llanwrtyd Wells. Heading towards Builth you will come to the Woollen museum on your left; as you approach the stone is in the field on your right, it can easily be seen through the trees from the road. Although when we first visited the site it was late winter, therefore the trees were not in full bloom, so the stone may not be quite so visible in summer. We parked by the gate of the field, climbed over and it was a short walk to the monument. The stone leans slightly in a Westerly direction. The setting in which the monument stands is quite impressive, with panoramic views across this beautiful part of the welsh countryside. |
