Winter, or when the leaves on the trees are gone, is the best time to notice this stone, although, once found, it is easy to see again and again.  It stands practically on the side of the road, but covered by the tree line and, as you can just make out, it is on the outside of the farm land

This stone is particularly simple too find, although when at first we set out to look for it, it caused us quite a problem. As it happens, it was only by chance that it caught our eye, as we were about to give up the search.

Since that time it always raises a chuckle, everytime we pass it. Although in our defence, it is nestled within a treeline, and over the years it appears to have adopted a camouflage, allowing it to seamlessly blend in to its environment.

So from the A470, heading toward Brecon, as you descend from the Storey Arms, down the long road, you need to take the left turn, onto the A4215, signposted, Defynnog. Carry on along this road. Soon you will pass a turning on your right, signposted, Cwm Camlais, just passed which you will see a gate to a field also on your right. Park here and walk along the outside of the tree line.

The stone is situated against the fence, 30 or so yards away from the gate where you parked. The stone stands at just less than 5 feet tall, by just over 2 feet wide and just under a foot thick. A quaint little stone, we assume to be a boundary marker, although who is to say? Also due to its accessibility, it’s well worth stopping and taking the time to have a look.
