This is an unusual entry into the MRW listings as it is neither a megalith or a Neolithic monument.  However. we are of the opinion that, if you were born or live in Wales, how can you not visit the birthplace of the Patron Saint of Wales - St. David? (Please see "Legends and Stories" link above)

Research reveals that the inscribed stone, seen here, was dug up from within the field and is believed to be either a grave or alter stone that was situated in the east wall of St Non's church.  In the same field are a number of small standing stones (which MRW does not yet have photographs of) which are believed to be evidence of an Iron Age settlement.

 Legends / Stories

There are many stories, with some variations, about this area.  But the consistent "facts" state that:

In the 6th Century Non was raped / seduced by a noble man and, as a consequence, gave birth to (Saint) David in the field where the church was later raised to 'commemorate' the event.  Following his (David's) birth Non became a nun.

The well (see the gallery above) nearby is said to have sprung up during a thunder storm at the moment that David was born and is said to have healing qualities.
