The
Cerrig Y Pigwn site consists of two circles. The main circle is
approximately 76 feet in diameter, and is made up of 28 small stones. The
smaller circle is approximately 24 feet in diameter, and made up of four
large stones, one small stone and holes indicating at least three missing
stones.
Getting
to the site is relatively easy and, on a nice sunny day, a really pleasant
walk.
At
the village of Trecastle, when approaching from Sennybridge, take the left
turn by the school, as if you were heading for Usk Reservoir. While climbing
the narrow road you will see a turning to your right. It is the first one
you come too. Follow the road for quite a while until you can actually go no
further. Park up and climb over the gate and start your walk along the old
Roman road. You will need to follow it for quite a way. Then a small path
forks off to your right. If you follow this path you should, after a small
while, be able to see a stone lying on its side on the horizon.
Of course we did have the benefit of a pair of binoculars. But nevertheless you should be able to spot it in the distance. Now make your way to the stone. When you get there you can see the main circle straight ahead of you.
