Stone [1] in front: 1.6m tall Stone [2] at back: 1.4m tall Approx 1.5m apart - North-South Alignment We have visited the area around the Preseli Mountains on a number of occasions, and this pair had eluded us every time. When we finally found them all became clear, as they are perched atop a field, actually visible from the road, but a good few hundred yards away. Due to their distance from the road, and the gradient of the field, sheep can easily obscure them. As with most monuments situated on high ground in this area, the surrounding views are a pleasure to behold. Finding the monument is relatively easy, although actually spotting them is another matter. Following the B4329 toward Brynberian, you cross the cattle grid at Tafarn-Y-Bwlch, where you stop to visit the Waun Mawn complex. You now need to take the minor road to your left. Follow this for a while until it forks again, at this junction bear right, now heading for Brynberian. You will soon pass the entrance to a farm set back on your right, slow down and keep your eyes peeled, looking at the horizon of the field to your left. You should be able to spot them before you get to the corner. If however you do get to the corner, with the massive rocks of Carnedd Meibion Owen on your left, you have gone too far. The only way we could find of reaching the monument, is over the fence and through the field, therefore this dictates that they are situated on private land, and permission should be sought. |
