Maen Richard is an average sized standing stone. This is again a relatively easy stone too find, nestled on a track-way above Cefn Bola-Maen, especially after visiting the Battle Stone.
You need to be on the road again heading for Aberiscir; just past the turning for the Battle Stone, go straight ahead for a very short distance. You will cross a tiny humped back bridge; turn immediately right; follow the road until it forks. Take the left fork and continue up the narrow road. Take care as this road winds and twists so be aware of oncoming vehicles. Shortly after a tight, steep pull you might notice a stone on the horizon to your left - this is not Maen Richard but is worth a visit, but it is a fair walk through thick ferns. So, keep on going until you come across a junction; at which point you turn right and continue along that road; you will soon cross a cattle grid and enter a steep, winding road. Just on top you will see a track-way to your left; continue a few yards until you see another track-way, where you can pull off road and set off on foot. It is not a long way, although you think you will never get to it. You will notice a brightly painted triangulation point to your right; Maen Richard is situated on the right hand side of the track-way below. Well worth a visit, on a nice, clear day, the views are spectacular. The walk to the stone is moderate and relaxing. Unlike some we have visited.
