As its name suggests, this is
the southern monument of the two long barrows, and it is the stones of this
chamber that immediately catch your eye when approaching along the road. Obviously the same route to
the site applies as in the Ffostyll
North review, along with the same courtesy as in seeking permission
before approaching the monuments. As stated in the Fostyll
North review we had no suitable measuring tape at the time so we
“step” measured the site. We make this monument approximately 41 yards long by approximately 27 yards wide. Once again there is only one visible chamber. Apparently as before the sites were excavated around 1923, with a number of human remains being found. |
