This site is the first of three sites in the area, which unfortunately we have no measurements of. This stone is situated in a field just off the B4319, near Samson Farm, just before the junction to Bosherton. It can clearly be seen from either the main road or the road to Bosherton. If you stop on the Bosherton road the stone is on your right hand side, whereas the second of the three stones “Harold Stone” is situated in a field on your left hand side. Apparently these two stones along with the third, also known as “The Devils Quoit” which can be found a bit further away at Stackpole Warren are also known as “The Dancing Stones”. It is said that at a particular time of the year, they meet at a place called “Saxon’s Ford” and dance. It is said that they are sometimes accompanied by the Devil on his flute. It is also believed that somebody witnessing the dancing will have exceptionally good luck. |
