A group of five burial chambers.  Each with the entrance facing outward on top of a small mound

This is an exceptional site, comprising of five burial chambers within an oval mound. It is suggested that the site is of the Bronze Age due to its use of small chambers, which were consistent with Bronze Age burial practices. The site lies within an area, which shows evidence of large scale Bronze Age activity.

If visiting however, be careful, as the site itself is as easy to pass as it is to find, as it is situated just behind a hedge right next to the A487, Newport to Fishguard road. Heading from Newport toward Fishguard you will start to drop down a short hill with a sign for “Oakfield Lodge” on your left, also on your left there is a “Preseli Tour” sign, opposite which is a big white house.

The monument lies in the field next to the house, and if you’ve slowed down it can clearly be seen from the road. You reach the monument over two rusty gates.

This site is well worth a visit, the sea views out toward Dinas Head are absolutely gorgeous on a sunny day. As with so many of such monuments their ruinous state tells only a fraction of their story, it is up to the visitor’s imagination to try and recreate the spectacle of the ancient rituals which took place here.
