What once dominated the horizon of Gelligaer and Merthyr Common for its grandiose and majestic nature now dominates it because it has a pillar of concrete laid upon it - a triangulation point, just to the right of the picture below (just out of sight). Carn Bugail has, over the years, become vandalised beyond recognition. Numerous visits have given us: burned out cars, engine parts, tyres, bon fires and the like. What a sorry state However, it does offer some spectacular views and, on a clear day, Pen-Y-Fan is plain to see. Just below Carn Bugail is a standing stone, Rohi Stone, just off the Roman Road |
