A very impressive and prominent standing stone, which leans at a slight angle, for anyone truly interested in standing stones, this monument is a must. Finding the stone is relatively easy from Brecon Town; heading toward the town; cross the River Bridge then turn immediately left; follow the signs to the boathouse; proceed up the hill passing the sign to the promenade; continue up the hill, the road narrows slightly; you are now heading for Cradoc. When you arrive at Cradoc, keep left. At the phone box follow the signs for Aberiscir (do not follow the sign for Battle). You will go round a sharp S bend. Continue a short distance along the road, until the road forks. You need to take the right hand turn up a steep little climb. As you climb you can actually see the stone up to your right, just behind a hedge. At the top of the climb you need to stop. The entrance to Ynys Villa farm should be on your left. You reach the stone by climbing over the gate to your right, then climb up the hill, along the hedge to another gate. At which the stone is in front of you, just inside the field. |
