The Aim of Megalithic Research Wales |
 |
It is the intention of MRW to document most, if not
all, the megalithic sites in Wales, regardless of its condition or ease of
access. Every site deserves recognition, especially the ones that have
been neglected for so long. It is certainly not our intention to
damage, deface or commit acts of trespass when accessing sites of interest

The photograph above was taken at Tintern
Abbey, as neither of us enjoy having our photograph taken,
and neither of us really fancied having our pic on the web, this was the
best we could come up with (",)
About MRW
 |
Megalithic Research Wales was founded in early
2004 following some considerable, independent research undertaken by each
of the founders for intended publications. These publications will
now be used to fund
future joint research. |
 |
Without realising it, we both had the same
kind of hobby. Shortly after realising this, we decided to work
together and, with some friends we have encountered on the way, embarked
on our tour of Wales' megalithic heritage. |
 |
Having collected a significant number of
photographs between us and written about each site, it soon became
apparent that preparing the intended publications, and in the manner
that they were hopefully going to be published, was not as easy as it
was hoped. |
 |
Initially, we both independently visited the
sites of interest for each of our own personal pleasure and did not
intend to do anything apart from store the photographs for ourselves.
Which is why you may find that a few sites do not have all the
information on them etc. When we realised we had a common
interest, we decided to pool our resources, it was this recent pooling
of resources that has enabled us to have as many stones / sites on the
web as we have. |
 |
The ideology we each had soon became a thorn
in the sides of us both and felt we should share the information we
had collected with each other and with everyone else. |
 |
We found that the publications that each of us
had purchased over time did not suit either of our needs and the idea of our own,
joint publication(s) soon
took over, with a twist - a twist which you shall all have to wait for
when we get published (",) |
 |
As often as we can, and following a strict
code of conduct, we find our way around Wales in search of sites,
especially the ones that no one really wants to visit. |
 |
However, we cannot wait for the time when we
are published so, what better place to show you all our efforts to date,
that "ye olde" Internet!!! |

About Nicola
 |
Being a mum of three fantastic, musical and
very supportive kids, who insist that my 'rock hunting' exploits are
tantamount to 'train spotting' gives me the drive to continue, even in the
face of 'adversity'! |
 |
My hobbies include: My kids; "rock hunting";
art; listening to music (especially live music); web-crafting; researching
"alternative religions"; reading and watching history and true crime
programmes on TV, and a little voluntary work thrown in for good measure. |
 |
The best part about me is: My every increasing
ability to read maps - thanks to Ryan, my eldest |
 |
The worse part about me is: No patience for
those that annoy me, most especially "rumor mongers" |

About Jason
So,
here it is, the long awaited bit about me:
 |
I'm just your average bloke, aged 30 something
that loves music and playing guitar and drums |
 |
I love the archeological history of Wales and
am fascinated by megalithic monuments and what they stood for |
 |
Searching for the sites has opened my eyes to
the amazing countryside in which we live. |
 |
Although all my mates think that traipsing
over mountains in the fresh air, looking for these sites, is quite sad,
perhaps it's not so sad to sit in a smoked filled pub watching
football. Or, maybe, it's just me and I should get myself an anorak |
 |
The best part about me: I haven't really
got any best
qualities |
 |
The worst part about me: No
patience |
